By the end of her five day adventure in Korea Marilyn had developed a high fever from her numerous appearances in her thin dress in the very cold Korean February weather. She came down with a serious cold and had to fly back to Japan where Joe gave her antibiotics. "You've never heard such cheering", Marilyn said. "Yes I have", said Joe. Both Marilyn and Joe probably already suspected that their marriage might not be working out. By the time she had returned to Hollywood she was already talking with friends about the possibility of a divorce.
By the time she left Korea Marilyn had a case of bronchial pneumonia which would continue while she was in Japan
