Diana Dors- the British answer to Marilyn in the 1950's
Jayne Mansfield --A bigger bust but did not have MM's charisma They were called the "Shadow Marilyn's". Starlets who followed in the MM phenomena. Britain had Diana Dors, (who would later have her own Hawaii baseball connection), France had Brigitte Bardot. And Jane Mansfield, appearing here in a publicity photo for "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter" with Tony Randall. Other movie studio answers to M.M. were many other blondes in the 50's, also including Mamie Van Doren. Director Alfred Hitchcock ranked Marilyn Monroe as one of the top three great female actresses. Marilyn was also compared to the great Jean Harlow, the MM of her day. Marilyn herself admired stripper Lily St. Cyr and spent time learning her refined concepts of sexiness.
