Lawford at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Waikiki, Hawaii 1934
Lawford's beach house and party center for the Kennedy'sPeter Lawford had an unusual life, some of it spent in Hawaii and Tahiti as a child. He later learned to surf in Hawaii and almost drowned in a Hawaii surfing mishap. He learned the slippery ways of Hollywood and met Marilyn Monroe along the way. He went on to Sinatra's Rat Pack and the Kennedy's glorious Camelot Days. He is closely associated with the circumstances around Marilyn Monroe's death and ultimately died from too much drugs and alcohol- perhaps harboring a personal burden that he carried to his grave.
